Scope of Services
Personal Assistance Services (PAS) are directed by supervisors and provided by the agency’s attendants/caregivers to assist clients with ADLs or to perform the physical functions required for independent living and include the following:
- Bathing
- Grooming
- Dressing
- Feeding
- Exercising
- Toileting
- Positioning
- Assisting with self-admin medications
- Assisting with routine hair and skincare
- Transferring or ambulation
The attendant/caregiver can assist with IADLs such as:
- Meal planning
- Meal preparation and clean up
- Monitor diet
- Prepare future meals
- Escort to lunch or dinner
- Monitor food expiration dates
- Prepare grocery lists
- Grocery shopping
- General shopping
- Light housekeeping
- Change linens/make beds
- Laundry
- Drop off/pick up laundry
- Organize and clean closets and cabinets
- Take out garbage
- Organize mail
- Arrange appointments
- Appointment reminders
- Supervise home deliveries
- Assist with pet care
- Supervise home maintenance
- Supervise yard work
- Companionship and conversation
- Encourage mind-stimulating activities
- Read
- Play cards and games
- Monitor TV usage
- Plan visits/outings/trips
- Attend plays/movies/club/meetings/sporting events
Other services not listed may be provided if agreed by both the client and agency and are permitted by Texas Health and Human Services.
